A specialized approach

The principles of palliative care is to provide relief from pain and suffering.  With experience and knowledge, excellent health assessments are made ongoing to manage the symptoms of disease.  It affirms life and regards dying as a normal process.  Effective palliative care, when started early, can help to navigate through the stress and maintain optimal health and quality of life for both the patient and the family.  Effective palliative care is a team approach involving nurses, PSWs, doctors, pharmacists, social workers, OT's/PT's, counsellors and spiritual advisors.  Our goal as a primary care palliative nurse is to be an exceptional advocate, to incorporate necessary team members and propel a care plan to succeed for individuals and their carers.
